AFARD has organsized farmer groups to produce for the market. We buy the produce at a fair price and sell to processors and exporters. We have a warehouse in Yumbe town and another in Nebbi Town. In 2011 we expect at 600 MT each of simsim and soya. Now (sept 2011) we have close to 100MT of soya with our farmers ready for sale. When they sell, they use the cash to buy key assets they need in their households. For that purpose, we connect them to manufacturers and wholesalers to reap the benefit of bulk buying
We are regularly Selling: soya beans, simsim, sunflower, amaranthus.
We are regularly Buying: improved seeds, pesticides, farm tools, packaging materials, weighing scales, moisture meters, consultancy services, roofing iron sheets, bycycles. |
